The KUA Wildcats dropped their season finale to arch rival Vermont Academy 42-7. Vermont came to KUA with more desire and focus and it showed from the first series of the game. Vermont's level of intensity was evident from the beginning. KUA was able to match Vermont's first score when Alex Skinner hit Rick Naylor for a 16 yard touchdown pass. This was the last time KUA would score as Vermont ran off 35 unanswered points. The lone bright spot for KUA was Kevin Vieira who ran for 112 yards on 11 carries.
The KUA regular season winning streak, dating back to three seasons ago, came to a screeching halt today as New Hampton ran rough shot over the Wildcats. KUA had no answer for New Hampton's offense and the Huskies were able to shut down the Wildcats big play threats. KUA could not manage any sustained drives while New Hampton moved the ball with ease. KUA closes out the regular season hosting Vermont Academy next Saturday at 6pm.
Kimball Union traveled to Tilton School today and put their undefeated record on the line against the one loss Rams. In a game that had 7 turnovers and many spectacular plays, Kimball Union was able to stay unbeaten with a 31-28 win. Tilton jumped out to an early 7-0 lead when they punched in a three yard run that was set up by an interception of Kimball Union's Alex Skinner. KUA answered back when Tarik Octave caught a one yard touchdown pass from Skinner. In the second quarter Tilton once again took the lead but their two point conversion was stopped. It was Skinner again leading KUA back to the end zone when he lofted a 21 yard TD pass to Casey Tanner, with the extra point KUA took a 14-13 lead into halftime. KUA upped it's lead to 21-13 on the first offensive play in the third quarter as Tanner ran away from Tilton defenders for a 65 yard touchdown run. Soon after Won Kun Park caught Skinner's third TD pass of the afternoon for a 28-13 KUA lead. Tilton never quit and took advantage of a couple KUA miscues as they scored a fourth quarter touchdown to make the score 28-21. KUA put their final points on the board when Park kicked a 37 yard field goal making KUA's lead 10 points with just over four minutes to play. Tilton then covered 76 yards in 6 plays to close to within 2 points. The Rams tried an onsides kick that KUA was able to recover and from there run out the clock on what was an excellent prep school football game.
KUA was led by Alex Skinner who was 23 for 40, for 230 yards and three touchdowns. Rick Naylor caught 8 balls for 106 yards, on defense he had an interception and fumble recovery. Tanner finished the day with 11 rushes for 96 yards and one TD. Tanner also made 7 catches for 71 yards and a TD, he added a late fourth quarter interception that ended a potential game changing drive by Tilton.
