Commencement

Commencement

Class of 2021 Commencement Exercises will take place May 22, 2021, at 11 a.m. ET
Kimball Union is proud of the achievements of the Class of 2021. Though it may not look exactly like previous years, the ceremonies and rites of passage will honor the individual and collective achievements of our seniors.

KUA is taking comprehensive measures to protect the health and wellbeing of our campus community, as well as our neighbors in the Upper Valley. As such, this year's event is limited to graduates and up to four immediate family members. We invite everyone else to join us through the Commencement Livestream.

Commencement Information

List of 9 items.

  • Advance Guest Registration

The Commencement ceremony is limited to graduates and guests of up to 4 immediate family members. Registration for guests is required by May 7 at 4 p.m. ET. Registration information was sent by email to seniors and their parents/guardians.
  • COVID-19 Guidelines

All graduates and guests must adhere to all KUA COVID-19 Guidelines, which include wearing a face covering (covering mouth and nose) at all times, maintaining 6-foot social distancing (exception to guests in the same party), washing hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, and practicing other good health behaviors such as avoiding touching your face and covering your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing. Although New Hampshire’s state-wide mask mandate expired, Kimball Union and the Town of Plainfield require that masks be worn in public. This is for the safety of all of our community members, and no exceptions will be made. Our ceremony will be live-streamed and anyone who cannot (or will not) comply with the COVID-19 Guidelines is welcome to attend Commencement remotely.
  • Location

The ceremony will be held outdoors at Pope Field, rain or shine. Please plan accordingly as May can bring either hot sun or rain. No guests will be permitted inside buildings.
  • Arrival and Health Screening

Guests are asked to arrive beginning at 10 a.m. and must proceed directly to the Akerstrom Arena parking lot either by way of Campus Center Drive or Chellis Road (see map). The parking lot will open at 10 a.m. The Tracy Health Center staff will conduct a check-in and health screening from your car prior to parking.
  • Parking

Guests are asked to park their vehicles as directed by KUA staff and proceed directly to Pope Field. Masks must be worn immediately upon exiting your vehicle. Any guest who needs assistance accessing the field may request transportation by golf cart. Only one family will be permitted in a golf cart for each trip. For handicapped parking, please contact Director of Facilities Doug Plummer in advance.
  • Seating

Seating for the ceremony is pre-assigned and families are asked to remain in their designated seats until the conclusion of the ceremony. Please note that arriving early will not change the location of your assigned seats. Masks are to remain on at all times. Restrooms for guests will be located near Akerstrom Arena.
  • Livestream and Photography

Our event will be live-streamed in its entirety. The Academy has also secured photographers for the day of the event to capture these special moments for our graduates. Photos will be shared through KUA Flickr once processed.
  • Conclusion of Ceremony

At the conclusion of the ceremony, boxed lunches will be provided for graduates, guests, and faculty on Grenier Field located directly behind Pope Field. We ask that you continue to follow KUA’s COVID-19 protocols and to please be sensitive to others as we navigate this time together.
  • Departure

Dorms will close on May 22 at 2:00 p.m. ET. While parents and family members may assist with the loading of vehicles, they are not permitted in the dorms.
