Complete and submit the application through either the Standard Application Online (SAO) or Gateway to Prep. Applications are due February 1 for a decision release date of March 10. We begin accepting applications on a rolling basis after this time.

Nick joined Kimball Union Academy in 2015 as an Associate Director of Admission and the Boys’ Varsity Lacrosse Coach. Before moving to Meriden, NH, Nick spent eleven years working in the Admission Office at Portsmouth Abbey School and one year at Cape Henry Collegiate School.
Nick is from Baltimore, Maryland. He attended Loyola Blakefield where he was the captain of the hockey and lacrosse teams during his senior year. Nick continued his lacrosse career at the University of Notre Dame where he was an accounting major and a goalie on the 1st Notre Dame team to reach the Final Four. After graduating in College in 2003 Nick helped coach Cape Henry Collegiate School to their first-ever state championship. While an assistant at Portsmouth Abbey, the lacrosse team won nine league championships in eleven years and three goaltenders were named U.S. Lacrosse All-Americans. In 2014, Nick earned his Masters’ in Athletic Administration from Ohio University. Nick and his wife Polly live on campus in Rowe House; along with their two daughters Carter and Gracie.
Laura Burgess joins KUA admissions as Senior Associate Director. Laura brings nearly two decades of independent school and admissions experience to Kimball Union including two prior years here on The Hilltop. Laura has previously held positions in admissions at her alma mater Emma Willard School as well as Mercersburg Academy and Tabor Academy, where she served as Senior Associate Director of Admissions and Director of Admissions Marketing for seven years prior to returning to Kimball Union.
Laura is passionate about moving the boarding school industry forward, helping families navigate decision-making, and sharing creative solutions for admissions marketing with peers. Laura is a graduate of St. Lawrence University and Dartmouth College. She is an avid reader, enjoys cooking and baking, skiing, hiking, racquet sports, and running and has completed a number of half marathons, marathons, and trail ultra marathons. Laura lives on campus in Bryant Hall with her partner who is a member of the Kimball Union mathematics faculty.

Cory McClure
Associate Director of Admission, Head Coach Varsity Boys Basketball
Cory McClure joined Kimball Union Academy in the summer of 2019 as an associate director of admission and boys’ varsity basketball coach. Prior to KUA, Cory enjoyed similar roles at other New England boarding schools for nearly 15 years. His experiences as a classroom teacher, advisor, dorm head, and coach give him a unique perspective to share with families and potential students that are considering Kimball Union Academy.
Cory is a graduate of the University of New England and is a native New Englander. He and his wife Destiny and children Max, Sylvia, and Griffin live on campus and enjoy the school’s diverse community as well as the Upper Valley.
Kathy has been working at Kimball Union Academy for over 25 years. She joined the Admission Office in 2012 after spending eight years in the College Advising Office. Prior to that, she worked for nine years in the Advancement Office. In her role as office manager, Kathy is responsible for a variety of tasks to help the office run smoothly, including the processing of inquiries and applications. Kathy lives in nearby Cornish, NH. She has two adult daughters, Samantha and Stephanie, and one granddaughter, Lydia. She enjoys spending time with them whenever she can!
