  • Computer Science/Math Teacher

    Kimball Union Academy (KUA) seeks an experienced, student-centered, and pedagogically innovative computer science and mathematics teacher to become a full-time member of the KUA community. 

    ABOUT THE POSITION 
    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
    •    Plan and teach two or three sections of Computer Science including AP Computer Science
    •    Teach an additional one to two sections of mathematics 
    •    Ability to teach math to the AP BC Calculus level, a plus 
    •    Coach sports and/or lead activities 
    •    Advise a small cohort of students
    •    Serve as a dorm parent in our residential program and work within a team to supervise and facilitate weekend activities on occasional weekends
    •    Pursue continuous growth and development in understanding and implementation of diverse and effective instructional practices 
    •    Contribute knowledge, expertise, and passion to the on-going collaborative effort to innovate and improve KUA’s curriculum 
    •    Participate in committee work as assigned by school leadership 

    QUALIFICATIONS 
    •    A bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, or a closely related field; a graduate degree in computer science, mathematics, or education is strongly preferred 
    •    2-5 years (or more) of teaching high school computer science and mathematics 
    •    Current pedagogical practices which may include experience with Universal Design for Learning, backwards planning (Understanding by Design), and project-based learning 
    •    Collaborative approach, willing to work closely with colleagues both in and outside of the department 
    •    Facility with Mac OS, SMARTboard technologies, Microsoft365, Google apps, and other computer science or math education-enhancing products is preferred 
    •    Experience in a range of sports – coaching experience preferred 
    •    Flexible, resilient, and creative working within a fast-paced environment 
    •    Strong written and verbal communication skills 
    •    Outstanding interpersonal skills and a track record for building strong relationships with both students and colleagues

  • Daycare/Preschool Substitute Teachers

    Meriden Preschool and Daycare at Kimball Union Academy is currently seeking substitute child caregivers that are compassionate, reliable, and experienced. In this role, you will see to the children’s basic needs, creating a safe, compassionate “home-away-from home” for our little ones.
     
    This is a substitute call-in position. To succeed in this position, you should be patient, enthusiastic and flexible and able to move from the preschool room to the toddler room, if needed.

  • Girls Varsity Basketball Coach

    Kimball Union Academy (KUA) seeks an experienced, student-centered girls’ varsity basketball coach who will also teach or can work within our Student Life Office to become a full-time member of the KUA community. 

    ABOUT THE POSITION

  • Housekeeper Full Time

    Kimball Union Academy is looking for a new member to join our housekeeping team.  This full time Housekeeper will assist in daily housekeeping functions in dorms, classrooms, athletic facilities and offices. Other duties may include event setups throughout the year and moving of furniture.  We desire a motivated team player who can also work alone.  The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of housekeeping experience and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. 

    This full time position would receive a competitive compensation and benefits package and will be provided all appropriate safety equipment necessary to perform the job.

  • Mathematics Teacher

    We are seeking an experienced and innovative mathematics teacher to become a full-time member of the KUA community, teaching and also participating actively in athletics or activities and residential life. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
      • Plan and teach five sections of mathematics across two or three different courses over the course of the year
      • Teach mathematics from the Algebra level through AP Calculus
      • Math beyond AP BC Calculus a plus
      • Pursue continuous growth and development in understanding and implementation of diverse and effective instructional practices
      • Contribute knowledge, expertise, and passion to the on-going collaborative effort to innovate and improve KUA’s curriculum
