  • Coaching Intern

    Kimball Union Academy (KUA) seeks an upbeat, energetic, and athletic coaching intern to work as a three-season coach for girls sports and also work in our residential program among other duties.
     
    ABOUT THE POSITION 
     
    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
     
    • Coach three seasons: any combination of field hockey, skiing, basketball, tennis and lacrosse
    • Serve as a dorm parent in our residential program and work within a team to supervise and facilitate weekend activities on occasional weekends 
    • Pursue continuous growth and development in understanding and implementation of diverse and effective instructional and coaching practices 
    • Participate in KUA’s DEI efforts
    • Contribute knowledge, expertise, and passion to the on-going collaborative effort to innovate and improve KUA’s curriculum and co-curricular program
    • Participate in committee work as assigned by school leadership 
     
    QUALIFICATIONS 
     
    • 1-5 years of experience playing one or more sports at the varsity level in high school and college
    • A bachelor’s degree
    • Experience working with students as a camp counselor, coach, assistant coach, or mentor
    • Collaborative approach, willing to work closely with colleagues both in and outside of the department 
    • Facility with Mac OS, Mircrosoft365, Google apps, and others
    • Flexible, resilient, and creative working within a fast-paced environment 
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
    • Outstanding interpersonal skills and a track record for building strong relationships with both students and colleagues

  • Daycare/Preschool Substitute Teachers

    Meriden Preschool and Daycare at Kimball Union Academy is currently seeking substitute child caregivers that are compassionate, reliable, and experienced. In this role, you will see to the children’s basic needs, creating a safe, compassionate “home-away-from home” for our little ones.
     
    This is a substitute call-in position. To succeed in this position, you should be patient, enthusiastic and flexible and able to move from the preschool room to the toddler room, if needed.

  • Housekeeper Full Time

    Kimball Union Academy is looking for a new member to join our housekeeping team.  This full time Housekeeper will assist in daily housekeeping functions in dorms, classrooms, athletic facilities and offices. Other duties may include event setups throughout the year and moving of furniture.  We desire a motivated team player who can also work alone.  The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of housekeeping experience and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. 

    This full time position would receive a competitive compensation and benefits package and will be provided all appropriate safety equipment necessary to perform the job.

  • Learning and Reading Specialist

    Kimball Union Academy (KUA) seeks a part-time Learning Specialist with an emphasis on reading support to provide comprehensive learning and support services to students with mild to moderate learning disabilities in a 1:1 setting. The successful candidate will have knowledge of the academic, emotional and brain-based components of learning in adolescence with the ability to utilize assistive technologies and interventions to support student growth. 
     
    ABOUT THE POSITION  
     
    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  
     
       * TUTOR 10-12 students two to three times per week both during the class-day and afternoon activities 
       * Work with students on reading support, math skills and executive functioning 
       * Write reports of student progress for parents, teachers and advisors 
       * Pursue growth in understanding and implementation of the most current educational practices 
     
    QUALIFICATIONS  
      
       * Advanced work in Special Education or Reading Instruction  
       * Three years of experience as a Learning Specialist at the high school level 
       * Outstanding interpersonal skills and a track record for building strong relationships with both students and colleagues  
       * Strong written and verbal communication skills  
       * Current pedagogical practices which may include experience with Universal Design for Learning, backwards planning (Understanding by Design), and project-based learning

  • Seasonal Grounds Team Member

    Kimball Union Academy is looking for a seasonal Grounds Team Member to work from June 1 through October 1st. This position is responsible for lawn mowing, weeding and planting. Must be physically able to perform outdoor, all weather work, lift up to 75 pounds and work independently. This position requires the possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license.

  • Spanish Teacher

    Kimball Union Academy (KUA) seeks an experienced, student-centered, and pedagogically innovative Spanish teacher to become a full-time member of the KUA community.
     
    ABOUT THE POSITION 
     
    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
     
    • Plan and teach five sections of Spanish at two or three different levels of Spanish for grades 9-12
    • Coach sports and/or lead activities, girls sports a plus
