  • Computer Science/Math Teacher

    Kimball Union Academy (KUA) seeks an experienced, student-centered, and pedagogically innovative computer science and mathematics teacher to become a full-time member of the KUA community. 

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
    •    Plan and teach two or three sections of Computer Science including AP Computer Science
    •    Teach an additional one to two sections of mathematics 
    •    Ability to teach math to the AP BC Calculus level, a plus 
    •    Coach sports and/or lead activities 
    •    Advise a small cohort of students
    •    Serve as a dorm parent in our residential program and work within a team to supervise and facilitate weekend activities on occasional weekends
    •    Pursue continuous growth and development in understanding and implementation of diverse and effective instructional practices 
    •    Contribute knowledge, expertise, and passion to the on-going collaborative effort to innovate and improve KUA’s curriculum 
    •    Participate in committee work as assigned by school leadership 

    •    A bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, or a closely related field; a graduate degree in computer science, mathematics, or education is strongly preferred 
    •    2-5 years (or more) of teaching high school computer science and mathematics 
    •    Current pedagogical practices which may include experience with Universal Design for Learning, backwards planning (Understanding by Design), and project-based learning 
    •    Collaborative approach, willing to work closely with colleagues both in and outside of the department 
    •    Facility with Mac OS, SMARTboard technologies, Microsoft365, Google apps, and other computer science or math education-enhancing products is preferred 
    •    Experience in a range of sports – coaching experience preferred 
    •    Flexible, resilient, and creative working within a fast-paced environment 
    •    Strong written and verbal communication skills 
    •    Outstanding interpersonal skills and a track record for building strong relationships with both students and colleagues 
    •    Strong analytical skills and an ability to learn new systems quickly

    Meriden Preschool and Daycare at Kimball Union Academy is currently seeking substitute child caregivers that are compassionate, reliable, and experienced. In this role, you will see to the children’s basic needs, creating a safe, compassionate “home-away-from home” for our little ones.

    Kimball Union Academy (KUA) seeks an accomplished and talented Director of Institutional Advancement who embraces the Academy’s values of fairness, dependability, initiative, and empathy and who will be responsible for leading the Academy’s efforts in the areas of development, parent and alumni relations, and special events. The Director of Institutional Advancement provides visionary leadership, day-to-day management, and active execution for Kimball Union Academy’s comprehensive fundraising program. The new hire will lead all aspects of the Academy’s fundraising programming, including annual giving, major gifts, capital campaigns and endowment initiatives, parent and alumni relations, prospect management, donor stewardship, and a variety of special events.

    The Director of Institutional Advancement reports directly to the Head of School, and serves as the School’s chief external strategist in the formulation and execution of an orchestrated effort to project and engage KUA to its loyal alumni and dedicated parent constituencies. The Director of Institutional Advancement, supervises a staff of dedicated team members and is the chief advancement officer of the Academy. Additionally, this position works closely with the Admission and the Marketing & Communication teams and is an ex-officio member of several board committees.  The Academy’s current endowment is $60 million and there are approximately 5,500 alumni. The Annual Fund currently raises $1.3 million dollars annually. In addition, capital giving, beyond the Annual Fund, brings in an average of $6 million dollars each year for the Academy.

  • Housekeeper Full Time

    Kimball Union Academy is looking for a new member to join our housekeeping team.  This full time Housekeeper will assist in daily housekeeping functions in dorms, classrooms, athletic facilities and offices. Other duties may include event setups throughout the year and moving of furniture.  We desire a motivated team player who can also work alone.  The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of housekeeping experience and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
