The Kimball Union Academy Wildcats boy’s varsity hockey team earned a 5-1 win over a young but talented Noble and Greenough School in Saturday’s game at the Flood-Marr tournament at Milton Academy. KUA attacked with a total team effort that saw five different players account for the goals. Junior Nik Armstrong opened the scoring with a top-corner wrist shot early in the first period. Linemate Alex Heinritz doubled the KUA lead minutes later with a shot from the slot that eluded the Nobles netminder. Nobles changed goalies at that point, but moments later senior Kyle Shero tipped home a wrist shot from fellow senior Paul McAuliffe and KUA took a 3-0 lead into the locker room after one period. KUA added its next two goals late in the second, one off a great individual effort from McAuliffe and another from sophomore Ben Tardiff, who tipped in a point shot from junior Bryce Dolan. Junior goalie Hugo Turcotte was strong in net for KUA and took a shutout into the third period before Nobles was able to beat him on a quick one-timer from the slot. The Wildcats’ record now stands at 10-1 on the season.
