A chilly Saturday afternoon did not scare fans away from celebrating the five seniors on the KUA JV girls hockey squad. Rose Abendroth, Jamie Johnson, Eleanor Pschirrer-West, Karina Meirmanova, and Sam Vocatura were all honored before the game, and all 5 started. It was an atypical slow start for the Wildcats. The energy was not the same as games in the past. This did not stand in the way, however, of some great hockey. Johnson was first to put one on the scoreboard after Halle Clark made a great play on the blue line and assisted the goal. Clark later followed up with a breakaway and found goal #2. Only 20 seconds later Charlotte Hankin rifled one low on net before the goalie had time to react, and made the game 3-0 at the end of the 1st. The great team play between Clark and Johnson continued with Clark scoring again after a 2 on 1, and Johnson earning the assist. A too many men call against the Wildcats put them on the penalty kill for a minute and a half. In that time VA was able to capitalize scoring their one and only for the game. Final score after 3 periods of play was 6-1. Another great game for the entire team, and especially the seniors! KUA looks to face the Faculty in a scrimmage this Monday, and then a re-match with Proctor at home on Wednesday.
