KUA loaded up the bus on Wednesday afternoon and headed over to Vermont Academy for their second road game of the season. With the full squad in tact and healthy, KUA was determined from the get-go to capture their first win. This was seen from puck drop to final buzzer. Jamie Johnson stole the puck off of the first face-off, dodged two defensemen, and sent one home for the first goal of the game. VA answered back quickly to make the game 1-1. That was the only time Julia Fontaine, would allow anything past her. Minutes later Sam Vocatura possessed the puck on the boards in the offensive zone, and sent a sniper of a pass across to Halle Clark who was parked in the slot. Clark buried it, to make the score 2-1. A power play goal by Johnson would round out the 1st period, leaving the score 3-1. The flood gates opened up in the second period. Johnson played outstanding with two shifts with two goals! Sam Vocatura found the back of the net after burying a rebound she found while crashing the net. Another line, made up of Charlotte Hankin, Abby Dole and Erin Gregory-Davis, came up big, when they went end to end with a beautiful breakout finishing with a goal from Hankin and an assist from both Dole and Gregory-Davis. The second period ended 9-1. Spirits were high on the bench, and neither team let down their guard. VA continued to pepper Fontaine with shots, as she made incredible save after incredible save! Johnson and Hankin each buried another in the 3rd for a final score of 11-1. Rose Abendroth and Esmé Juros both had stand out performances on defense. Next stop is Proctor Academy on Saturday, where KUA hopes to keep this momentum up and snag their second win.
