Huskies sweep season series with 9-3 win over Wildcats

In the first JV girls’ hockey game of 2016, the Wildcats came off the bench with a fire in their eyes.  Abby Dole was voted netminder for the day, and came up big in goal for KUA multiple times being peppered by shots and stopping multiple breakaways.   It was the Huskies who found the back of the net first, but the Wildcats answered back within seconds.  Charlotte Hankin took the puck for a ride and rifled a shot on net, the Husky goalie made a big first save, but Erin Gregory-Davis was sitting on the door step and knocked the rebound home.  The back and forth hockey and multiple opportunities continued throughout the first period.  Jamie Johnson took a sniper of a shot from outside the circles and it found its way in for KUA’s second goal.  The first period ended 4-2, and we had an exciting hockey game on our hands.
Just a couple of minutes into the second period, Jamie Johnson created a breakaway by stealing the puck and out skating their defensemen.  With a low hard shot Jamie found the back of the net for her 2nd goal of the game.   The momentum stopped here for the Wildcats.  Many more opportunities, and strong defensive play were not enough to keep us in it.  A fantastic effort by all, and we look on to our next game against VA a week from today.
