Wildcats Play Best Half of the Season, Defeat BA 4-1
What a stunning autumn day on the lakeside. Today the JV girls traveled to Brewster Academy to go toe-to-toe with an athletic and disciplined B.A. JV squad. This was indeed the tale of two halves. The Brewster girls dominated half #1, keeping KUA pinned in their defensive 1/3. Heroic goalkeeping by freshman Halle Clark kept the score close, with Brewster notching one goal toward the end of the initial frame. With the wind at their backs, KUA began the second half with hopes high. But sustained effort by Brewster seemed to portend a tough 35 minutes ahead. And then suddenly, within but a few short minutes, the momentum shifted entirely in favor of the Wildcats. With a fire in their eyes, KUA won every 50/50 ball. Led by the efforts of sophomore wing middie Alieke Feid and Freshman striker Christina Ryan, the girls from Meriden put four on a reeling Brewster side. Christina Ryan is making few friends in Wolfboro, as in two games against BA this season she has notched 6 goals. SIX!! Ryan also assisted on the other KUA tally, slotting a perfect pass across the box to sophomore Rachel Litchman - and Litchman made no mistake in powering home the goal. This was, far and away, the best half of soccer that the young Wildcats have played this year. Maddie Long was tenacious at attacking midfield, and Mallory Schell played with a fire in her eyes that left the coaching staff smiling and cheering gleefully from the sideline. Also worthy of note were the efforts of strikers Lisa Udkoff, Esme Juros and Alicia Malagon, as well as the tireless work from backs Lindsay Peckham and Frannie Wetherbee. Great game, GREAT half...and a well earned win for the girls from the Hilltop!!
