KUA Moves to 3-0

The KUA Varsity Football Team played their home opener tonight as the Holderness Bulls came to town.  KUA opened the scoring when Max Abendroth was on the receiving end of an 8 yard Alex Skinner touchdown pass.  The first quarter ended 7-0 in favor of KUA.  The second quarter was identical to the first as KUA was able to score the only points of the quarter.  Kevin Vieria finished off the scoring drive by bouncing an inside run to the outside for a 5 yard scoring run.  The half ended 14-0 in favor of KUA.  A Doyle Somerby interception set up KUA with great field position early in the third quarter and Casey Tanner was able to keep his feet after initial contact from a Holderness defender and scamper for a 14 yard score.  In the fourth KUA upped their lead to 26-0 when Skinner and Tanner hooked up again for a 16 yard score.  Holderness never quit and had two big passing plays to cut the lead to 26-12 but could get no closer.  On the day Skinner was 15-25 for 187 yards and 3 touchdowns.  KUA's defense was strong enough to keep the Holderness offense out of the end zone for most the game.  Rick Naylor had one interception and five receptions while Tanner added an interception as well.
