The Kimball Union varsity football team put forth its best effort of the season
The Kimball Union varsity football team put forth its best effort of the season on Friday night, defeating a tough New Hampton team on the road, 44-15. The Wildcats offense was firing on all cylinders, as Travis Jones ran for 254 yards and two touchdowns, Kevin Veira added another 143 yards and a touchdown, and quarterback Ryan Burgess threw for three touchdowns. The Wildcat defense performed admirably against New Hampton’s spread offense as well, shutting out the Huskies for three quarters and even creating a safety when linebacker Juan Breton tackled New Hampton’s running back in the end zone. Kevin Ganglehoff caught two of Burgess’s touchdown passes and kicked six extra points, and Kazim Edebali also brought in one of Burgess’s touchdown passes on a spectacular leaping catch. Edebali had a standout defensive day as well, helping harass the New Hampton quarterback all game. Next Saturday, KUA takes on Portsmouth Abbey at 3:30 PM on their home field.
