Boys Varsity Soccer Drops Home Match against Top-Ranked, Class A, NMH, 0–3

Kimball Union hosted Class A powerhouse Northfield Mount Hermon on Wednesday and fell 0–3.

The Wildcats opened on the front foot. KUA set the tempo through the first several minutes and generated two looks inside the 18, the best of them a Sebastian header off a corner-kick that rattled the crossbar. The breakthrough never came, and NMH answered with back-to-back goals early in the half to take a 2–0 lead the Wildcats would spend the rest of the match chasing.

What followed was eighty minutes of real defensive work. Left back Otis was outstanding, holding his side of the field against sustained pressure, and Gio came up with several saves behind him to keep the deficit at two. The Wildcats absorbed, reorganized, and kept NMH to that margin deep into the second half. The visitors added their third only in the closing minutes, after KUA lost starting striker Jackson to injury.

For a young roster, there was plenty to build on. Competing for the better part of eighty minutes with a team of NMH’s caliber is a marker of where this group is headed. The Wildcats take Thursday to recover and prepare before hosting Tilton School on Friday.
