Great Pitching, Timely Hitting Push KUA Past St. Paul's

In a matchup of two top teams, the Wildcats got 16 strikeouts from pitcher Bailey Cassin and timely hits on the offensive side of things to beat St. Paul's 3-0 on Friday in Concord. The Wildcats got on the board in the first period when Stella Prieto singled home Leila Portugal, who had previously singled. Thanks to the battery of Cassin and Avy Arias, the score remained that way until the fourth inning. Cassin walked to lead off the inning, while pinch runner Evelyn Hsu stole second. A clutch, two-strike single from Olivia Parker scored Hsu to give the Wildcats the 2-0 lead. In the fifth, Anna Baker and Leila Portugal both singled, and an Arias ground ball scored Baker to push the lead to 3-0. Cassin and the KUA defense did the rest in the final three innings to secure the win.
