Wildcats Open With Road Win at Brooks

After five games in the Florida sun, the Wildcats took to a New England field for the first time this season and scored a 3-0 win over Brooks on a chilly, 35-degree day in North Andover, MA. Bailey Cassin was outstanding in the circle for KUA, striking out 15 while allowing only three hits and one walk in seven innings. With the game tied at zero in the sixth inning, Anna Baker and Leila Portugal both reached base before Avy Arias bunted them over with a sacrifice. That set the stage for Kennedy FitzSimons to lay down a perfect bunt to score Baker from third to open the scoring. Portugal then scored on a pass ball. Stella Prieto followed up with a two-out single, and Cassin, helping her own cause, doubled to fence in centerfield, scoring Prieto. Cassin and the KUA defense did the rest, holding Brooks off the board in the final two innings to take the win.
