Second-Quarter Surge Fuels Kimball Union Academy JV1 Past Holderness, 60–40
After a slow, feeling-out first quarter, the Kimball Union Academy JV1 boys basketball team flipped the switch defensively in the second quarter and never looked back, rolling past the Holderness School JV squad, 60–40, at home.
KUA held a slim 13–9 edge after the opening quarter, with both teams settling into the pace of the game. The difference came in the second, where Kimball Union Academy’s defensive intensity changed everything. Stops turned into transition opportunities, the ball moved well offensively, and the lead quickly grew. By halftime, KUA had opened up a commanding 32–17 advantage.
From there, the game was firmly in Kimball Union Academy’s control. The JV1 squad stayed locked in on the defensive end and continued to share the ball, steadily extending the lead through the second half and closing out a convincing 60–40 win.
Henry Sullivan led the way with a game-high 24 points, providing a consistent offensive spark throughout the afternoon. Myles Boston finished with 10 points, while Eli Modzeleski added nine. Nate Gabin and Jason Wang each chipped in four, with additional scoring from Adi Lesbek (3), Cole Carroll (2), Cash Catlin (2), and Zach Jaffe (2), highlighting a balanced team effort.
Kimball Union Academy is back on the road next, traveling on Saturday the 30th to face Northfield Mount Hermon School. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
