KUA Battles to a Hard-Earned Draw Against Worcester Academy

The Kimball Union Academy Boys’ Varsity Soccer team traveled to Worcester Academy on Saturday for a thrilling matchup against one of the top Class A programs in New England. Worcester came out strong, applying sustained pressure and generating several dangerous chances, but KUA’s defense held firm. Anchored by captain and goalkeeper Marco, who produced two spectacular saves in the first half, the Wildcats weathered the early storm.
Worcester broke through late in the first half to take a 1–0 lead, then doubled their advantage midway through the second. But true to KUA’s resilient spirit, the Wildcats refused to back down. With sharp spatial awareness, Wes, the team’s youngest starter, slipped a perfectly weighted through ball behind the Worcester back line. Tomoki timed his run to perfection and calmly finished, cutting the deficit in half and reigniting KUA’s momentum.
Moments later, a booming clearance from center back Rory once again found Tomoki, who capitalized on the opportunity to net his second goal and bring the game level at 2–2. In the final minutes, Worcester threatened to reclaim the lead on a breakaway, but Noa executed a heroic last-ditch slide tackle inside the box to deny the chance and preserve the result.
The Wildcats return to Meriden with heads held high after an inspiring comeback and a well-earned draw against a skilled Worcester side.
