This evening, the GJVS won a tough, fast, and exciting game against Proctor Academy. The team continued to harness the energy of a home field advantage and put the pressure on the hornets right way. Hadley Bethke lead the offensive momentum with Julia Ferro Anton to support her efforts. Two midfielders had their best games of the season–Emelia Williams and Jitzelin Montas–as they continued to work the ball down the sidelines and creating space for scoring opportunities. This offensive pressure paid off as the Wildcats scored the first goal of the game after about 10 minutes of play. KUA played their best team defense game of the season with Maggie Lopez, Kylie Donovan, Elsa Shortlidge, Sabrina Haberstock, and Briana Angelli making crucial defensive stops as well as helping to make transitional plays to the midfield. Midfielders Adi Kopacz, Hannah French, Nangsel Norway, Gabi D'Angelo, Jane Zhong, and Ella Wang committed 100% effort to both sides of the play, contributing to both the team defense and offense. The Wildcats' next two goals came from Hadley Bethke who put the finishing touch on plays that the whole team worked to create. The fearless and talented goalkeeper, Ada Yoder, made three (among many more) crucial saves that thwarted the Hornets' attempts at tying the game. Ada's saves and punts–and her calm yet fierce demeanor in net–helped give the Wildcats the energy they needed to secure their win. A special thank you to all the family and fans cheering us on in the game; your energy was certainly felt on the field! After a well deserved rest, the Wildcats are back on the road on Wednesday, October 20th with a game against Phillips Exeter Academy. Go, KUA!
