Gueldenzoph ’26 Named USA Lacrosse Academic All-American

During his four years at Kimball Union Academy, Reid Gueldenzoph ’26 was on top of his game.
In the classroom he registered an impressive 3.97 cumulative grade-point average, earning academic high honors each semester while at KUA and induction into the Cum Laude Society. On the lacrosse field, Gueldenzoph was equally as sharp, capping off his senior season with a near team-leading 70 points on 49 goals and 21 assists.

Numbers like those didn’t go unnoticed by the powers that be at USA Lacrosse either, which recently named Gueldenzoph an Academic All-American for the 2026 high-school season. Honorees, whom USA Lacrosse says, “exhibit exemplary lacrosse skills, good sportsmanship on the field, and represent high standards of academic achievement in the classroom,” are selected by a committee after having been nominated by their high-school coaches.

“I was definitely very excited when I got the news,” said Gueldenzoph, who plans to continue his lacrosse career at Middlebury College in the fall. “It meant a lot to hear that I got it after putting all that work in all year. It’s kind of allowed me to step back and reflect on all the effort I put in both in the classroom and on the field.”

Gueldenzoph was an active member of the campus community during his time on The Hilltop and was regularly enrolled in AP courses up until his final semester. During last month’s Commencement ceremony, Gueldenzoph was one of three recipients of the the Henry Mann Silver Award which recognizes students who best exemplify the ideals of a sound body and mind, balancing academic and extra-curricular excellence in exquisite fashion.

As for Gueldenzoph’s Academic All-American recognition, he now joins Henry De Tolla ’21 and Boston Bruins defensemen Jordan Harris ’18 as the most recent alumni to earn the national honor for lacrosse.

“This recognition has everything to do with both Reid’s ability and his commitment to excellence,” KUA Varsity Lacrosse Coach Nick Antol said. “I think it also speaks to the balance we strive for with our student-athletes at KUA in combining strong academics with on-field performance. I’m excited to see what the future holds for Reid as he goes on to Middlebury next year continue his lacrosse career.”

While Gueldenzoph admits lacrosse wasn’t necessarily his first love when he arrived on campus as a first-year student — he was also a key member of the Boys’ Varsity Hockey Team — he was quick to credit both his teammates and coaches for inspiring his passion for the game. And that, Gueldenzoph said, is something he doesn’t take lightly.

“KUA lacrosse could not have made a more positive impact on my growth as a player and a person, which I will never forget,” Gueldenzoph said. “I’ve been shaped by some amazing teammates and coaches, and I couldn’t be more grateful.”
