The Kimball Union community elected Tommy ’27 and Melissa ’27 as next year’s All-School Presidents, as students begin to seek opportunities for leadership in the coming academic year.
Each year, students and faculty select two all-school presidents to oversee and represent the student body. Their primary responsibilities are to facilitate All-School Meeting twice a week and chair the Student Senate.
Tommy, from Woburn, Mass., held numerous campus leadership roles during his time on campus including 10th Grade Class President, Proctor in Densmore Hall and Orange Key Tour Leader. He hopes to build off the strong leadership of this year’s presidents by building a tight-knit community and being a good listener to the needs of his fellow students.
“I will do my best job making sure everyone feels included and welcomed,” said Tommy, who is also a member of the Boys’ Varsity Baseball Team.
Melissa, a native of Shanghai, built leadership experience over the past three years as President of her class. She is also an International Student Leader and Global Scholar. During her time with Student Senate, Melissa said she gained opportunities to learn how the Academy works and understand the needs of her peers.
“I realized that leadership is not about holding this position so people like you, it’s about how you use the position to support people around you,” said Melissa, who co-captains the Girls’ JV Lacrosse Team.
Melissa’s goal is to build on the strong tradition of all-school meetings and make next year feel truly special — more fun, more engaging, and more meaningful. “I want every student to have the opportunity to share their voice, and to experience the incredible diversity of talent in our community.”
Students and faculty have also elected Thomas ’27 and Ella ’27 as Honor Board Chairs as the process to select leadership roles continues this spring.
