The KUA Wildcats won their 5th game on Saturday in front of an enthusiastic home crowd during Family Weekend. Both teams kept up strong, offensive pressure, but both were also tough on defense so that by the end of the first half, there was no score. In the second half, KUA put even more pressure on the Proctor defense and were soon rewarded with a goal by Abby Rosen playing at right wing. Using the sides of the field, midfielder Maddie Belback got the ball and carried it into the circle, where she passed it off to Kesley Pollard at left wing who made a quick pass over to Abby near the right post. With one quick shot, Abby hit the back of the goal. KUA was up 1-0 and now had a slight, if fragile, edge in the game. Maddie was again key in a second, insurance goal for KUA when taking the corner hit, she sent the ball to midfielder Jenny Choi. Jenny carried the ball into the circle and fired off a rocket into Proctor's goal. Proctor kept up the pressure in KUA's end and had their chances to score, but it wasn't until with 7 seconds left in the game, they got the ball past KUA's defense. Mackenzie Keegan had another excellent game making several key saves for her teammates. Jenny Jeon, playing her first game as a center forward, and Mo Olson, forward, played hard as did KUA's tough defensive line of Lindsay Ling, Jennifer Wang, Irene Lee and sweeper Kristen Chen. Cherry Cheng and Joyce He played their part in the win on defense. KUA had 11 corners to 7 for Proctor. Next up is Wednesday, at home, versus Vermont Academy. JV Field Hockey is now 5-2-1 on the season.
