After falling behind 3-0 early in the second period, the Kimball Union boys’ varsity hockey team scored five unanswered goals to beat Proctor Academy 5-3 on Wednesday in Meriden, NH. Proctor scored twice in the first and again early in the second to take a commanding lead, but a key shift by the line of senior Kyle Shero, senior Paul McAuliffe, and sophomore Kyle Penney resulted in a McAuliffe goal to get KUA on the board. Minutes later, after a huge breakaway save by junior goalie Sean Dynan, who entered the game after the third Proctor goal, led to a 4-on-4 goal by senior Sean Thomson on a nice setup from fellow senior Roope Hirvonen. KUA tied the game minutes later on the power play when sophomore Jordan Harris found the back of the net with a wrist shot from the top of the circles. Entering the third period tied at three, KUA kept its foot on the gas and got goals from senior Mike Lombardi and junior Andranik Armstong, who finished off a great effort by senior Alex Heinritz. Dynan and the KUA defense shut the door the rest of the way to preserve the win.
