KUA faced a skilled, hard-working, and tough New Hampton squad Friday night. New Hampton came out well with a power play and some scoring chances. These chances however, were thwarted skillfully by goaltender, Hugo Turcotte. The Wildcats managed to not only kill off the 2 minute 5 on 4, but countered with a rare goal coming from the far blue-line. Chris Konin seemed to know something everyone else didn’t when he shot on goal from nearly 125 feet away. Chris was assisted on the goal by Kyle Penney. Later in the period Thomas Samuelson would score with assists coming from both Alex Heinritz and Andy Armstrong. In the second period, New Hampton was able to net a hard-working goal that was quickly, and again, countered with a KUA goal. The third KUA goal was scored by Roope Hirvonen and it was assisted by Bobby Young. In the Third period, KUA came out strong but took a bit to score again. Kyle Penney was able to score a great goal coming from a hard-drive to the net and was assisted by Paul McAuliffe and Kyle Shero. New Hampton would then go on to score once more to bring the game to 4-2. With about one minute left in the game and with the New Hampton goalie pulled, Armstrong chipped a puck from deep in the zone back to Bryce Dolan who, with a slap-shot, netted the 5th goal of the game. Finally, with 30 seconds left in the game, Hugo Turcotte sent a perfect pass off of the glass to the tape of an awaiting Kyle Shero who found Paul McAuliffe as he crossed the blue line. Paul would circle the net and manage to score from just a foot out. This was the last regular season road trip for the Wildcats. They face Holderness, Proctor, and Cushing at home to round out their season.
