WIldcats' Offense Too Much for Governor's

The Kimball Union Academy boys’ varsity hockey team scored a 7-1 victory over Governor’s Academy on Friday in Meriden, NH. KUA opened the scoring early in the first period on junior Thomas Samuelsen’s first of two goals on the night. Minutes later, senior Roope Hirvonen cashed in from the top of the crease. Seniors Mike Lombardi and Paul McAuliffe also tallied for the Wildcats in the first period as KUA took a 4-0 lead into the second. Governor’s earned its lone goal on breakaway in the second but KUA answered with a goal by Chris Konin to make it 5-1 heading into the third. Samuelsen’s second of the game and a goal by sophomore Logan Cash rounded out the scoring in the third. Junior Hugo Turcotte earned the win in net and senior Kyle Konin tended goal in the final ten minutes and made some big saves to preserve the score. The Wildcats’ record now stands at 19-2 on the year.
