The Kimball Union Academy Wildcats boys varsity hockey team faced a tough New Hampton squad on Thursday and came away with a hard-fought 2-1 win. The Wildcats got on board first with a powerplay goal from sophomore Jordan Harris in the first period and junior goalie Hugo Turcotte made several big stops in the first to keep the game 1-0 going into the second. In the second period, senior Paul McAuliffe buried what would be the game-winner when he picked up the rebound from a shot by junior Bryce Dolan. New Hampton struck early in the third and threatened to tie the game several times but Turcotte held the fort for the Wildcats and sealed the victory with several more key saves. The win improves KUA’s record to 16-2 on the season.
