Pelicans fly into Meriden, and spoil 'Cats home opener
Girls JV Hockey – St. Paul’s 8, KUA 1
The Wildcats home opener was spoiled by the Pelicans on Saturday evening in Akerstrom arena. After a great warm-up, and the token “ice, ice, ice” pre-game cheer, the girls were ready to play. The forward line made up of Jamie Johnson, Halle Clark, and Erin Gregory-Davis took control of the game right away, heading into St. Paul’s territory off the drop. In just 30 seconds Gregory-Davis buried a puck to secure her first career goal, and the first point of the game. Unfortunately, the lead was only held for close to a minute before St. Paul’s answered back with a breakaway goal. Eleanor Pschirrer-West stood strong, and made some great saves throughout the game. A few more scoring chances were created by Sam Vocatura and her linemates. All girls stepped up, and improvement was seen throughout the bench. Final score may have been in the opponent’s favor, but the fans were in favor of the K - incredible spirit and school pride!
