KUA vs Holderness

KUA and Holderness had a classic back and forth battle on the softball field today. The Bulls started out strong, scoring three runs in the first and one in the second, but KUA took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the second. Addie Herbert scored two runs with great base running to spark the Wildcat comeback. After 5 innings the score was 9-7 in favor of KUA, but Holderness rapped 3 hits and scored 4 runs to take an 11-9 lead in the top of the sixth. The Cats were unable to score again and thus lost a hard-fought contest to their Lakes Region Rivals. Locals Allie Moehrke, Ali Bowen, Heather Blackwood and Jamila Elmaksoud were hot at the plate. Bowen went 3-for-4 with an RBI and 2 runs. Moehrke led the team in stolen bases with 3 while also rapping two singles and scoring 2 runs. Blackwood followed suit with 2 hits and 2 runs scored and Elmaksoud reached base safely all 4 times she was up recording one hit and one run. Newport's Megan McDevitt went the distance on the mound fanning 6 batters and walking just one. She contributed a triple, a sacrifice and a run on the offensive end.
