Wildcats Score Road Win at Williston-Northampton

Behind a first-inning home run from Leila Portugal and 14 strikeouts from Bailey Cassin, the Wildcats scored a 3-1 win at Williston-Northampton on Saturday. Portugal's shot over the centerfield fence staked KUA to a 1-0 lead, which it held until the third inning when Anna Baker walked and was bunted to second by Portugal. An infield hit from Stella Prieto set the stage for Avy Arias to drive in Baker, which she did with a ground ball to short. The Wildcats made it 3-0 in the fourth when Olivia Parker scored on Baker's infield hit. Despite Williston getting one run back in the fifth, Cassin and the KUA defense did the rest from there and shut the home team down to take the victory. Next up, the Wildcats travel to Proctor on Wednesday for the first Lakes Region game of the season.
