Lesbek’s Clutch Three Lifts KUA Past New Hampton on Senior Night
On Senior Night in Meriden, the Kimball Union Academy JV1 boys basketball team delivered a moment that will not soon be forgotten, defeating New Hampton School’s JVA team 44–41.
With the score tied 41–41 and just 35 seconds remaining, senior Adi Lesbek calmly stepped into a three-pointer and buried it, giving KUA the lead for good in a thrilling win over the New Hampton School JVA team. Remarkably, the clutch shot accounted for Adi’s only points of the game — but they could not have come at a bigger moment.
It was a hard-fought contest between two evenly matched teams from start to finish. The Wildcats held a narrow 21–19 advantage at halftime and continued to play poised, disciplined basketball down the stretch to secure the victory.
Bear Martin led the way offensively with a career high 14 points. He was joined in the scoring column by Kayden McIntosh, also with a career-high 7 points, Henry Sullivan with 7, Bryson Morgan with 5, Eli Modzeleski with 4, Adi Lesbek with 3, Jason Wang, and William Gordon with 2 each.
More importantly, the evening was an opportunity to celebrate seven seniors who have meant so much to the program: Adi Lesbek, Eli Modzeleski, Cole Carroll, Kayden McIntosh, Jason Wang, Bear Martin, and Zach Jaffe. Their leadership and commitment were on full display in a fitting Senior Night victory.
The Wildcats return to action at home against Vermont Academy on Friday, February 27th, with tip-off set for 2:30 p.m.
