Traveling to Northfield Mount Hermon with a short squad, Kimball Union Academy’s boys JV1 basketball team showed grit, poise, and resilience in a thrilling 61–60 road victory on Saturday afternoon.
The game was one of streaks from start to finish. Kimball Union came out sharp and energetic despite being shorthanded, building a first-half lead that stretched to 14 points at one stage. Northfield Mount Hermon responded with a strong push of its own late in the half, trimming the deficit to six by the break, with KUA holding a slim halftime advantage.
Momentum swung again in the second half as NMH went on a run and briefly took control, opening up a nine-point lead. Rather than pressing, the Wildcats stayed composed, locked in defensively, and chipped away possession by possession. Their defensive effort down the stretch set the stage for a dramatic finish.
With time winding down and the score tight, Myles Boston delivered the final blow, knocking down the game-winning shot at the buzzer to secure a hard-earned 61–60 win for Kimball Union Academy.
Eli Modzeleski led the Wildcats with 16 points, while Boston finished with 14, including the decisive basket. Bryson Morgan added 12 points, Adi Lesbek scored seven, and Henry Sullivan chipped in seven. Michael Ho, Jason Wang, and Lucas Yang each added two points in a balanced team effort.
Kimball Union Academy returns home next, hosting Tilton on Wednesday, February 4, in Alumni Gym. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:30 pm.
