Wildcats Fall to Bulls

Wildcats Fall to Bulls
GJVS travelled to Holderness School on Friday, October 8th to play under beautiful blue skies and sun. The Wildcats were low on numbers for this game, and with only two substitutes coming off the bench, the team worked extra hard running up and down the field. Holderness capitalized on some early defensive errors and scored two goals right off the bat. KUA defense was anchored by goaltender Ada Yoder, Kylie Donovan, Hannah Black, and Briana Angelli. Elsa Shortlidge started her first game of the season and played exceptionally hard for the whole game. Maggie Lopez stepped up on defense with her most consistent game yet, and also proved to be versatile when we needed her to play striker as well. Once the team found a little more of a groove, the defense sent a few good balls up to the midfield (featuring: Adi Kopacz, Jitzelin Montas, Hannah French, Nangsel Norway, and Gabi D'Angelo) who then played great through balls to our strikers (featuring: Hadley Bethke, Julia Ferro Anton, and Jane Zhong). Unfortunately, the Wildcats weren't able to convert the scoring opportunities against Holderness to goals. Holderness had quick and tough players in their midfield, and the strength of their team allowed them to keep putting shots on goal. Ultimately, the Bulls scored 6 and kept the wildcats off the board. After seven away games in a row, KUA is looking forward to finally playing their first game at home! Join us on Wednesday, October 13th on Chellis field as we take on Brewster Academy.
