KUA beats New Hampton–Wildcats get their first win of the season!
GJVS earned their first win of the season against New Hampton School on Saturday, October 2nd. With a cool and consistent rain coming from above, the team shook out their bus legs and began the hard fought game from the first whistle. Julia Ferro Anton, Jitzelin Montas, Hadley Bethke, and Ella Wang all contributed to several offensive plays in the early moments of the game, but it wasn't until the end of the 1st half that the Wildcats got on the board. Hadley Bethke scored two back-to-back goals with just a few minutes left in the half. The team had to play fierce and safe defensive to keep the Huskies from creeping back into the game. Defenders Kylie Donovan, Sabrina Haberstock, Briana Angelli, Hannah Black, and Maggie Lopez anchored our defensive efforts, with Elsa Shortlidge coming in to play her best game of the season. In the midfield, Emilia Williams and Adi Kopacz worked the sidelines to keep feeding the plays up to our offense; Nagsel Norgay, Jane Zhong, Hannah French, and Gabriella D'Angelo all contributed to the strength of the midfield as well. While the team defense was the best of the season, the Huskies did manage to put two in the back of the net in the second half. A few minutes later, Hadley Bethke answered back with a goal that was started with fantastic passing from Hannah Black and Julia Ferro Anton. As has been the norm in the past several games, Ada Yoder continued to make crucial and gutsy saves in the net, allowing the wildcats to secure the 3-2 win. Keep following us as we hit the  road again on Wednesday, October 6th as we take on St. Paul's School. Go Wildcats!
