KUA Wins Fall Tune-up

Senior Sean Donoghue scored the winning goal three minutes into the third period and the Wildcats used a strong defensive effort to beat New Hampton 4-1 in an exhibition match-up at New Hampton. After an even first period, which saw New Hampton go to the locker room with a 1-0 lead, the Wildcats turned up the intensity in the second, outshooting the Huskies 21-4 in the frame. Junior Will Blackburn tallied his first goal in his first game as a Wildcat when he converted a rebound on the powerplay midway through the second. In the third, Donoghue finished a nice passing play from linemates Alex Keller and Anthony Solt to give the Wildcats the lead. Senior captain Liam Walsh added an insurance marker later in the third while senior Thomas Pichette rounded out the scoring with a shorthanded goal with the New Hampton goalie pulled for the extra attacker. Goalies Charlie Schenkel (1st and 2nd periods) and Colby Boyce (3rd period) combined for 18 saves and the win in the KUA net.
