KUA @ Proctor Academy

The Kimball Union Academy Cross Country Team attended a meet at Proctor Academy today. The team already saw this course once earlier in the season, so it was an excellent opportunity to try to drop time on familiar terrain. Brewster Academy and Vermont Academy were also in attendance. The scorers for the boys were as follows: Owen McBride (3rd place, 19:35), Gabe Laszewski (6th place, 20:31), and Declan Clark (20th place, 23:36). Declan set a new personal record when he improved upon his previous personal best time of 23:57. Two other male athletes also had their lifetimes’ best races today: James Chen (who dropped from 25:36 to 25:27) and Brad Ji (who dropped from 28:22 to 27:04). The scorers for the girls were as follows: Lexy Gray (4th place, 25:21), Ellen Hu (7th place, 28:30), and Kate Gao (9th place, 30:36). Lexy Gray dropped significant time from her previous lifetime record of 25:42. Ellen Hu was only two seconds slower than her best performance of the season and Kate Gao did not have her lifetime best performance, but she did have her fastest race of the season so far. Alice Phan, the newest member of the team, had a wonderful performance and is an athlete to watch in the coming weeks (11th place,31:41). The team will return to action at the Lakes Region Championships at St. Paul’s School next Wednesday.
