With the Wildcats down 2-1 with eight minutes to play, Sam LeDrew converted two one-timers in a span of three minutes to give the Wildcats the lead and eventual road win over Deerfield on Wednesday. After falling behind 1-0 in the first period, KUA struck back when Daniel Tokariwski converted a pass from Jack McMinn to knot the score at one. The game remained that way until the third when Deerfield capitalized on a KUA turnover to take the lead. That’s when LeDrew, off passes from Jackson Kyrkostas and Mike Sullo respectively, scored on back-to-back shifts to put the Wildcats up by one. Sullo scored an empty-netter to extend the lead, which the Wildcats needed as Deerfield netted a late powerplay goal to keep the game within reach. But strong goaltending from Colby Boyce (29 saves) and some critical shot blocks secured the KUA win.
