Head Coach Cory McClure is a veteran of the Northeast basketball landscape as he enters his 24th year coaching young men at the collegiate or prep level. Kimball Union Academy Boy’s Basketball has enjoyed a long tradition in the NEPSAC of developing and moving student/athletes along to some of the finest NCAA Division I, II, III institutions in the country.
Coach McClure has worked with young men that have developed into student/athletes that have enjoyed careers in the Big East, ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, PAC 12, SEC, A-10, AAC, Conf USA, IVY, Patriot, America East, Big Sky, Big West, WCC, NE-10, NESCAC, Liberty League, etc. Some have gone on to professional careers on NBA rosters with many more enjoying careers overseas.
Before arriving at “The Hilltop” Coach McClure has worked at UNH, St. Bonaventure University, New Hampton School, Bridgton Academy. Most recently at Gould Academy he started a NEPSAC AA program from the ground up and over three years became an annual NEPSAC tournament participant coming within a field goal to Cushing Academy of taking his squad to NEPSAC championship Sunday.
Coach McClure believes the Kimball Union Academy honor code that includes “being honest in all matters, behaving with integrity, and demonstrating respect for myself and others” are “non-negotiables” for any young man that makes his way through the KUA Boy’s Basketball program. These are the attributes that will serve KUA graduates well as they transition into life away from the Village of Meriden, NH.
Most days can be found in Barnes Hall/Admission Office as he is an associate member of the Kimball Union Academy Admission Team.
Cory and his family of five (6 including the dog) enjoy time as a family regardless of the activity, traveling, fishing, and general life on a boarding school campus.
