Program Philosophy Our goal is to prepare our student-athletes to be ready for the college experience and life after lacrosse. Our approach is process driven focusing on academics, character, leadership, and competition. KUA lacrosse players are expected to: put their academics first; do the right thing when no one is watching; play a second sport; be involved in a non-athletic activity; and hold teammates accountable for actions on and off the field. We believe winning is a result of this process and always strive to “Play Like a Wildcat!”
Facilities KUA boasts some of New England’s top lacrosse facilities. In 2018, Pope Field was resurfaced with a state-of-art lighted FieldTurf surface. “The Barn” is Kimball Union’s 80’x60’ indoor facility. Complete with FieldTurf and heat, “The Barn” gives KUA student-athletes a space to train in all weather conditions. Most KUA lacrosse players spend one season doing Strength & Conditioning in the Silver Gymnasium. The Strength Program is overseen by a certified strength and conditioning specialist.
Opponents Kimball Union participates in the Lakes Region against Brewster Academy, Holderness School, New Hampton School, St. Paul’s School, Proctor Academy, Tilton School, and Vermont Academy. The schedule also includes non-conference opponents such as Exeter, Andover, Cushing, Lawrence Academy, Brooks, NMH, and Portsmouth Abbey. KUA takes a spring training trip each year to the Mid-Atlantic where they compete against top-quality competition from the region.

KUA traveled to Vermont Academy for the final game of the season. Senior Andrew Jarrett shot early and often to help KUA build a 4-1 first quarter lead. He scored his first goal off an Eric Megnia feed and the next two off passes form Morgan Dewdney. In the second quarter, Megnia scored first to put the Wildcats up 5-1. Vermont narrowed the lead to 5-2, but then junior defenseman Trey McDougall ran coast to coast and elected to feed Jarrett who calmly netted his fourth goal of the game. The half ended with the Wildcats in control, 6-2. Megnia fed freshman Jordan White to start the scoring in the third quarter. Vermont, again, followed with a goal of their own to narrow the lead to 7-4. The Wildcats would then go on a six unanswered goal run to extend their lead and seal the victory. Senior Tessier sniped the eight and ninth goals and then Megnia, with :07 seconds remaining in the 3rd quarter, put KUA up 10-4. Jarrett and senior Jon Munro exchanged favors to start the fourth quarter. Munro fed Jarrett for his sixth goal of the game and then, just over a minute later, Jarrett fed Munro to set up his first goal of the game. Jarrett then scored unassisted to extend the KUA lead to 13-4. With just over four minutes remaining, senior defenseman Matt Michaud scooped up a ground ball in his own end and ran 80 yards before burying the ball in the back of the net for his first goal of the season. Jordan White, off a Mike Robertello feed, scored the final goal of the day.
Sophomores Cam Beecy and Colman Lamb dominated the face-off spot and juniors Jacob Paluch, Glenn Corey, and Hunter Braswell played exceptionally well in the midfield. Senior Alex Andrews made frequent runs on offense and defense in the midfield. Long pole Mike Powell controlled the midfield and won key ground balls all game long. Chris Anderson, Teagen Burham, and Nick Andrews, along with McDougall and Michaud, played skilled defense to hold the Vermont shooters to just five goals. In net, senior Santiago Morales made 11 saves.
KUA builds lead in 4th quarter to win 11-9 against St Paul’s
er
After falling behind 4-2 at the half, KUA tied the score 4-4 early in the 3rd quarter and then took the lead for good with 5:46 remaining in the game. Five different Wildcats scored en route to the home team victory. Andrew Jarrett led all scorers with 5 goals and 1 assist. Mike Robertello contributed two goals and two assists, his second a clever pass that led to PJ Tessier’s go ahead goal during the 4th quarter run. Morgan Dewdney sniped off a Jarrett feed to tie the score with just 16 seconds remaining in the 3rd quarter. Eric Megnia provided KUA with much needed insurance by scoring the final two goals in the final three minutes of play.
It was an all around team effort. Beecy dominated the face-off spot in the second half, giving the Wildcats important possessions. KUA’s defense forced outside shots and gave up very few chances on the crease. Trey McDougall was steadfast in his crease duties and wing midfield defenders Cam Beecy, Jacob Paluch, and Owen Winslow combined to force errant passes and off angle shots. Long pole team captain Mike Powell was strong on groundballs and always perfectly positioned in his defensive duties. Hunter Braswell and Glenn Corey also played effectively at long pole on wing faceoffs and in the defensive third. Defenders Matt Michaud and Chris Anderson played solid one v one defense against St Paul’s x dodgers and were integral to the KUA clear. Goalie Santiago Morales saved 10 shots on the day.
KUA heads to Vermont Academy on Saturday for their final game of the season.
