KUA JV1 Boys Basketball Wraps Up Season at Holderness
The Kimball Union Academy JV1 Boys Basketball team traveled to Holderness School for the final contest of the 2025–2026 season. On a night when shots were hard to come by, the Wildcats battled throughout but ultimately fell 57–47.
Holderness jumped out early, and KUA trailed 36–26 at the half. Despite the cold shooting stretch, the Wildcats showed resilience in the second half, competing possession by possession and refusing to let the game slip away without a fight.
Henry Sullivan led all KUA scorers with 16 points, providing a steady offensive presence. Myles Boston added 7 points, while William Gordon contributed 6. Additional scoring came from Adi Lesbek (2), Michael Ho (4), Bryson Morgan (2), Kayden McIntosh (4), and Bear Martin (5), reflecting a true team effort in the season finale.
The Wildcats conclude the season with a 6–9 record. While the final tally does not always capture the full story, this group was competitive in many contests and continued to grow throughout the winter. Their commitment, coachability, and energy made the season an enjoyable one for the coaching staff.
Thank you to the players, families, and supporters who backed JV1 all season long. The foundation has been laid, and the future remains bright.
On a sunny afternoon in Meriden, Kimball Union Academy’s JV1 basketball team closed out its 2025–2026 home schedule with grit and determination against Vermont Academy. Although the Wildcats ultimately fell 56–52, the final score hardly tells the story of the fight they showed in their last game on their home court.
KUA stumbled out of the gate, struggling to find rhythm in the opening minutes. A tough first quarter saw Vermont Academy surge ahead 25–14, and the visitors extended that lead to 37–25 by halftime.
But as they’ve done all season, the Wildcats responded.
Coming out of the break with renewed focus and defensive intensity, KUA chipped away at the deficit possession by possession. The energy in the gym shifted as the Wildcats buckled down on defense and executed more efficiently on the offensive end. By the fourth quarter, it was a one-possession game, with KUA threatening to complete the comeback in front of their home crowd.
Leading the way for Kimball Union Academy was Myles Boston with 14 points. Eli Modzeleski added 10, while Bryson Morgan, Henry Sullivan, and Bear Martin each contributed 6. Adi Lesbek and William Gordon chipped in 5 points apiece in a balanced scoring effort that reflected the team’s collective resolve.
Though the comeback fell just short, the resilience on display was emblematic of the growth this group has shown throughout the season.
KUA will look to carry that momentum into its final game of the year as the Wildcats travel to face Holderness School on Saturday, February 28th. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
Lesbek’s Clutch Three Lifts KUA Past New Hampton on Senior Night
On Senior Night in Meriden, the Kimball Union Academy JV1 boys basketball team delivered a moment that will not soon be forgotten, defeating New Hampton School’s JVA team 44–41.
With the score tied 41–41 and just 35 seconds remaining, senior Adi Lesbek calmly stepped into a three-pointer and buried it, giving KUA the lead for good in a thrilling win over the New Hampton School JVA team. Remarkably, the clutch shot accounted for Adi’s only points of the game — but they could not have come at a bigger moment.
It was a hard-fought contest between two evenly matched teams from start to finish. The Wildcats held a narrow 21–19 advantage at halftime and continued to play poised, disciplined basketball down the stretch to secure the victory.
Bear Martin led the way offensively with a career high 14 points. He was joined in the scoring column by Kayden McIntosh, also with a career-high 7 points, Henry Sullivan with 7, Bryson Morgan with 5, Eli Modzeleski with 4, Adi Lesbek with 3, Jason Wang, and William Gordon with 2 each.
More importantly, the evening was an opportunity to celebrate seven seniors who have meant so much to the program: Adi Lesbek, Eli Modzeleski, Cole Carroll, Kayden McIntosh, Jason Wang, Bear Martin, and Zach Jaffe. Their leadership and commitment were on full display in a fitting Senior Night victory.
The Wildcats return to action at home against Vermont Academy on Friday, February 27th, with tip-off set for 2:30 p.m.
