Holiday Tournament Results

As winter break kicked off, Kimball Union’s varsity athletic teams participated in a variety of competitive Holiday tournaments throughout New England and Canada. Here are the results of this past weekend’s events:

Girls’ Varsity Basketball participated in the Ethel Walker Holiday Classic in Simsbury, CT this past Friday and Saturday. KUA won their first game against Cheshire Academy 52-30 and advanced to the Semi-finals. Eventual tournament champions, St Luke’s School, beat the Wildcats 69-59. The Wildcats won the consolation game against Ethel Walker School to earn third place overall. The team returns to action Saturday, January 6 at New Hampton School.
 
Boys’ Varsity Basketball participated in the Sun Youth Holiday Tournament over the weekend at Concordia University in Montreal. The Wildcats beat Holy Heart of Mary 81-52 and Champlain College 74-54 in the first day of play, advancing to the semifinals, suffering a loss to undefeated Notre Dame. The Wildcats return to action Wednesday, January 3 at Lawrence Academy.
 
Girls’ Varsity Hockey attended the Dexter-Southfield Tournament in Brookline, MA and kicked off the tournament with a 4-1 victory over Dexter-Southfield. In the semi-finals on Saturday, KUA fell to Thayer Academy in a close 2-1 game. The Wildcats ended the weekend with a 5-1 victory over Millbrook. The team returns to action Wednesday, January 3 at home against Brewster.
 
Boys’ Varsity Hockey brought home the championship trophy in the Flood-Marr Tournament at Milton Academy and Nobles & Greenough School. They kicked off the tournament a 2-2 tie against Salisbury School followed by a 3-2 victory over Deerfield Academy. On Saturday, the Wildcats beat Milton 6-2, advancing KUA to the finals where they won the tournament with a 4-2 victory over Westminster School. Following the game, Nik Armstrong ’18 was named tournament MVP, while defenseman Jordan Harris ’18 and forward Arlo Merritt ’19 were both named to the All-Tournament Team.
 
Boys’ Varsity Hockey resumes play in the Nichols-Belmont Hill Tournament on December 28 in Belmont, MA.
