John H. McNamara Sr.
Meriden, NH--John H. McNamara, Sr., age 91, died at his home in Meriden, NH on July 16, 2017. John was born at the family home in Meriden on April 16, 1926 to John F. And Florence McNamara. He Attended elementary school in Meriden and graduated from Kimball Union Academy in 1944.
Immediately upon graduation he entered the US Navy and served in the Pacific during WWII. He returned home to Meriden at the end of the war, became a Master Plumber and worked with his father at McNamara’s Plumbing and Heating. He took over the business in the early 1960’s and retired in 1991. He was a member of the Meriden Volunteer Fire Department, retiring at the rank of Deputy Chief.
John Married Doris Ferland in May of 1947 and they were together until her death in May 2003. He was also predeceased by his grandson Sean, his parents, and his four siblings. He is survived by his children, Pat, Mike (Louisa), John (Terry), and Katie (Ken); four of his grandchildren, Chris (Christie), Kevin (Clara), Kris (Keith), and Finlay; and his great grandchildren, Haley, Ian, Taylor, and Morgan.
Friends and relatives are invited to John’s memorial calling hours at the Ricker Funeral Home & Crematory in Lebanon on Sunday July 23, 2017 from 4 to 7 PM. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday July 24, at 10 AM at the Sacred Heart Church in Lebanon. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
