John S. Floyd-Jones

John Stanton Floyd-Jones passed away at his home after a battle with Congestive Heart failure. His wife, Winks was at his side. He was 77 years old. John was born on December 26, 1938 in White Plains, N. Y. He graduated from high school at Kimball Union Academy in Meriden, New Hampshire and graduated from college at Boston University in 1963. His business career started with Anaconda America Brass, but his interest changed to the paper business in 1966. It included: Sweetheart Cup – Assistant manager; Imperial Cup Corp. – National sales manager; Federal Paperboard – National sales manager, ending his career with International Paper in 2001.In 1995 John reconnected and married his high school sweetheart, Winks. They had grown up in Greenwich, Connecticut, but lost contact when her family moved to Montrose, Al in 1962. Prior to coming to Mobile in 2003, they lived in Amelia Island, Fl. In retirement they loved to travel and visit John's special place the British Virgin Islands. John was preceded in death by his parents Marion Low and Thomas Linton Floyd-Jones and his brother Thomas Linton Floyd-Jones, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Winks Farwell Floyd-Jones; his son John Stanton Floyd-Jones Jr. (Jamy) West Chester, Pa.; Sara Floyd-Jones Butler, Mooresville, N.C; step children Leigh Myers Price (Andy) Spanish Fort, Al.; Buddy Myers and Marc Myers both of Charleston, S.C. and Blake Myers, Dallas, TX. Grandchildren include: Abby, Will and Jake Floyd-Jones; Robert and George Butler; Drew (Ashley), Nicholas, and Brooks Price, and Lily Myers.We want to thank Dr. Stephanie Grosz and Covenant for their love and support during this difficult time.A memorial service to celebrate John's life will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church Mobile with visitation on Friday, November 4, 2016 from 10-11 with service to follow in the chapel.In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to be made to Kimball Union Academy 64 Main Street, Meriden, New Hampshire 03770 or the ASPCA of Mobile 855 Owens Street, Mobile, Alabama 36604.Condolences may be offered online atwww.radneyfuneralhome-mobile.com.
