Alan D. Graham

Alan D. Graham, of Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA, husband of Carol (Moore) Graham, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on January 18, 2016. He was the son of James F. and Mary (Duggan) Graham.

Alan grew up in Melrose, Mass and spent his summers in Gloucester. He graduated from Melrose High School, Kimball Union Academy and earned his BA at Dartmouth in 1955. At Dartmouth he rowed in the No. 2 position of the crew. After graduation, he entered the United States Air Force and became a Jet Fighter Pilot, earning the rank of Captain.

He had lengthy career in advertising. He enjoyed many hobbies, including sailing, golf, tennis, gardening and oil painting.His family came first. Alan thoroughly enjoyed time spent with his wife and children, grandchildren and his extended family and friends.

Alan is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol, and his daughters Elizabeth Graham and Christine Graham, and his grandchildren, Zeke, Riley, Kayleigh, Jessica and Oliver. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Graham and family, and many nieces and nephews. Alan was pre-deceased by his infant son, Alan D. Graham, Jr. and his brothers Edward Graham and Richard Graham.
