New Faculty Coming to The Hilltop

Several additional new faculty members will arrive on The Hilltop this summer including Victoria Pipas '14, English Department Teaching Fellow, Tae Kim, History and Economics Teacher, and  Billy Ayotte, Director of Innovation and Design.

English Department Teaching Fellow
Our 2014 valedictorian Victoria Pipas will return to The Hilltop next fall as a Teaching Fellow in the English Department. She will teach, observe, and learn from our great teachers, coach, and work in a dorm. Having graduated Summa Cum Laude from Middlebury College in June 2018, Tori is currently finishing a MSt in English at the University of Oxford. Her work experience already includes teaching at St Paul’s summer school, an internship at the New England Review, and serving as a leader for the Upper Valley Trails Alliance – all with teenagers. Tori has also taught Nordic skiing, rowed crew, and ran cross country at Middlebury. We are delighted to welcome her back to The Hilltop in her new role.

History and Economics
Tae Kim and his family will move from South Korea to The Hilltop this summer. He will teach AP Economics, Global Economics, and History. Tae has a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University and an MBA from Morehead State University, having grown up in Virginia. Tae has been working in the Bugil Academy Global Leadership Program and has taught in Cheonan, South Korea for ten years. He has also taught AP Psychology, AP Art History, and several other subjects. Before Bugil, Tae taught at Korea Science Academy in Busan, South Korea and has experience with college advising and international student recruitment.

Director of Innovation and Design
Billy Ayotte will join us from Gould Academy, where he has been the Maker in Residence in their IDEAS program. He loves to make things and most recently had his class make a pair of alpine skis each – real ones that they can use. He’s also made a 3-D printer and many other interesting objects. His current Head of School says, “Billy is the real deal. With a straightforward, matter of fact approach, he is an excellent teacher, coach, faculty member, leader, fun lover, and risk taker”. Mr. Ayotte will be our Director of Design and will move to The Hilltop with his wife (a woodworker) in the summer.
