KUA loses to Vermont, 87-72.

Kimball Union boys basketball team traveled down to Saxton’s River to take on AA rival Vermont Academy. The KUA Wildcats put up a good fight but lost in the end, 87-72. Vermont jumped out to a 20-8 lead at the start but KU whittled that down to a 6 point deficit at the half, 42-36 behind Enoch Cheeks’ 20 first-half points. Vermont pushed the lead to double digits in the third quarter only to see the Wildcats fight back and make it a 7 point deficit with 3 minutes to play in the game. This was the closest KUA could muster as Vermont won in the end by 15. Will Engelhardt played a strong second half on the offensive end scoring 16 of his game total 22 pts. Cheeks ended the game with a team-high 24 pts. Mark Dolgin hit 4-8 from beyond the arc for 12pts for the game. The Wildcats return to action home on Saturday vs Wilbraham. Game time has been moved to earlier in the afternoon- a 1:30 pm start.
