First Win on the Road

The Wildcats traveled down to Andover, NH to play the Proctor Hornets on this cold, rainy fall day. Having not scored yet this season, the Wildcats were the first to get on the board with a goal from freshman Abby Flanagan assisted by Kelly Benson. The next goal was scored by Benson and assisted by Flanagan. Third goal of the half was scored by Katie Ayers, assisted by Flanagan while playing a man down due to a green card. The fourth goal of the half was scored by Flanagan off a cross ball from Benson. The Wildcats played a strong first half working the ball up the field together with give and go and through passes. The Hornets snuck a goal in making is 4-1 at the half. The forwards were flying as they sprinted up to loose balls and their tenacity brought the ball into the their offensive circle again and again. The Wildcats earned many corners against the Hornets and were able to get many shots on net. The Hornets played a strong defense with great goalie saves. Though the Wildcats had difficulty with the 5 yard distance free hits and 5 yard travel in the 25, they made up for it by playing aggressive hockey all of the field. The midfielders and defensive line stepped up the ball denying the Hornets many shots and corners. The Hornets snuck a goal in during the first half but came short in the second half. In the second half, Flanagan scored 2 more goals and Ayers scored 1. Molly Gesner assisted. Goalie Amelia Keith finished the game with 3 saves.
