William L. McLean Jr.

Beloved father, grandfather, uncle and friend passed away Monday, April 18, 2011 at the age of 91. He was born October 11, 1919 to Ruth and Lacy McLean at the McLean family farm in Scotland County, NC. He was the second oldest of one sister and four younger brothers. Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Gladys Lyles McLean, his brothers, Neil, James Lewis, Sam, and his sister Mary Elizabeth. He is survived by his son, Mark, daughter- in-law, Gillian and grandson, Evan, all of Tequesta, FL; as well as his brother Ben, of Richmond, VA. Bill was a Mason, and a member of the Marion-Dunn Lodge No. 19 for 65 years. He joined the Army Air Corp with his 4 other brothers and was honorably discharged in 1946. He received his Bachelors Degree from the University of Florida and his Masters Degree from Florida State University, but he was always a Florida Gator at heart. He served in both Marion and Palm Beach County school systems for over 54 years, retiring as the Director of Vocational Education in Palm Beach County. A Memorial Service of his life will be held at Tequesta Terrace Assisted Living Facility (located at 400 N. US Highway 1, Tequesta, FL) at 2:00 on Saturday, April 23, 2011, and also at the First United Methodist Church (located at 1126 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, Fl) at 2:00 on Saturday, April 30, 2011. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate expressions of sympathy in his memory to be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Tampa, FL.
