In Their Own Words: Kai ’25

Kai ’25 is from Bronxville, New York. She is a member of Fire Brigade, and plays lacrosse and soccer. Kai loves the inclusive, safe environment that KUA offers, hanging out with friends in Stu, and encourages new students to “be open to meeting new people, going to new places, taking new classes, or doing different activities.”
What do you love about KUA?
KUA creates an environment that has become a safe place for many students from around the world. Whether a student lives a mile away or overseas, the hilltop has been known as a home to many. The inclusive environment that KUA creates allows a large variety of people to feel welcome on campus and helps students grow to their fullest potential. Kimball gives opportunities to students like no other school, giving anyone a chance to pursue their passions.

What surprised you the most about being a student after arriving at KUA?
When I arrived at KUA, I was most surprised about how much I enjoyed going to school. Waking up every morning excited to go to classes was a feeling I had never experienced before. Seeing my friends every morning and learning new material was very refreshing in an environment that felt safe and friendly. Activities fill the day that are very enjoyable to attend, and the forever welcoming students and staff will always put a smile on my face.

What is one piece of advice you'd like to share with incoming students?
One piece of advice I would share with incoming students is to be open-minded. Be open to meeting new people, going to new places, taking new classes, or doing different activities. Getting outside of your comfort zone is a skill that may feel foreign to many but can lead to many new opportunities to find new passions or friends you would have never thought about before.

Where is your favorite place on campus and why?
My favorite place on campus is Stu. Stu is also known as the Student Center, which is always filled with laughter and activities. Students flow through Stu every second of the day. It not only has unlimited seating, but it also houses the famous school store, and of course the ping pong table. Stu is a place where anyone can hang out and it has held countless memories over the years.

What's your favorite meal from the dining hall?
One of the most famous meals from the dining hall, and my personal favorite, is the Bang Bang Chicken. Every student is excited when they hear the dining hall is serving this meal for dinner because it always seems to end the day on a good note.
