Everything except goals

Coach Beaupre made some adjustments in our formation before our night game at Holderness. We shifted from a flat four defensive line in the back to a defensive diamond, and then went with three midfielders and three strikers rather than four and two. No, the offensive shift did not result in our scoring goals, but we created a variety of great opportunities and controlled the ball in our offensive third for large stretches of the game. Adi, Michael, Jordan, and John all created good chances. Aiden, Devon, and Matt dominated the midfield, and Carter and James Lee each made some strong runs. Lucas had several booming goal kicks, and Ryan and Harry each made some crucial stops. Theo Korhonen did an outstanding job as our Sweeper in the front of the net (that adjustment definitely paid off,) and Henry Steffen calmly and confidently handled every ball that got through to him. A scoreless tie at the end of eighty minutes of soccer is not particularly satisfying, but this was a hard-fought game played between two even teams with dramatic opportunities on either end and very few fouls called. We look forward to our rematch on November 8th.
