The Kimball Union Academy Wildcats opened their field hockey season in spectacular fashion, securing a convincing 6-1 victory over Proctor Academy. The game showcased the Wildcats' prowess and determination right from the opening whistle.

The Wildcats set the tone early in the first quarter, displaying their offensive and defensive skills. With exceptional teamwork and precision. Mallory Clark got the Wildcats on the scoreboard by stepping up to take a stroke and managing to send the ball to the back of the net. This early lead was a promising sign of things to come for the Wildcats, who finished the first quarter leading 1-0.

The Wildcats continued to dominate in the second quarter, with Ainsley Lonczak and Eva Rossmassler adding to the scoreboard. Assist coming from Lulu Leppard and Lindie Brinkman. The relentless efforts of the KUA offense kept the Proctor Academy defense on their toes, and the halftime score stood at an impressive 3-0.

Proctor Academy showed their resilience in the third quarter by scoring their first goal of the game. However, the Wildcats remained in control, maintaining a 3-1 lead as the quarter ended.

The final quarter belonged entirely to the Wildcats. Lulu Leppard, with unwavering determination, added another goal to the scoreboard. But it was Mallory Clark who stole the spotlight, completing her hat-trick with two more remarkable goals. Assist being earned by Michaela Cokinos, Ainsley Lonczak, and Alex Carnehammer.

However, it's not just the scorers who deserve credit for the victory. The Wildcats defense, led by Stella Kozak, Michaela Cokinos, and Payson Fowler-Thorsen, put on a stellar performance throughout the game. Their strong defensive efforts prevented Proctor Academy from gaining any momentum and ensured the Wildcats' control over the match. Kozak earned the win with 5 saves and Maddy Pope made her debut in net during the third quarter.

When the final whistle blew, the scoreboard displayed a resounding 6-1 victory for the KUA Wildcats, marking an impressive start to their season. The Wildcats now look ahead to their next challenge, taking on the Tilton Rams on Friday 9/22 at 5:30 pm under the lights on Pope Field.
