Early goal and late rally hold off a tough Holderness squad

In the most physical game of the early season, the JV2 team earned a victory in their home opener.  Holderness came to the Hilltop with a significant size advantage, but the scrappy Wildcats were up to the challenge, striking first and rallying late to secure the win.

The first goal was an impressive shot from Josh Weig '25 that had no real chance of being saved.  In a bit of a KUA letdown after the initial goal, Holderness answered quickly with a cross and finish.  After halftime, Holderness struck again and the Wildcats found themselves behind for the first time this season.

Rather than accept defeat, the KUA team kept working hard and scored the tying goal from Tei Lee '26, scoring a long shot that slipped under the goalie's hands.  Holderness was awarded a penalty kick after a pushing call in the penalty box, but Taylor Dickinson was strong on the line and saved the hard shot.  This provided a much-needed spark to the Wildcats, and they scored the go-ahead goal with a long-distance strike from Jake Parodneck '25, his first of the season.

The defense played a strong game, willing to match the physical play of Holderness.  Cale Goodnow '26and Thelonius Korhonen '26 worked hard in the center of the back, while the outer flanks were well covered by the likes of WIlliam Gong '26, Theo Starosta '23, and Ton Trimaitreepituk '23.  Collectively, this defense is beginning to gel and make it tough for opposing offenses.
