JV2 Boys go 3-0-1 in Cardigan Jamboree

The boys traveled to Cardigan Mountain School for a four-game jamboree and earned the top record for the afternoon.  Each game was 30 minutes, so scoring needed to be quick to earn a victory.

We started against the Cardigan JV team and finished with a 0-0 draw.  Although we didn't find the back of the net, we played well and had several nice scoring opportunities.

Next up was another crack at New Hampton, and we tried out a new keeper, Taylor Dickinson '26, who earned his first shutout.  Meanwhile, the day's scoring was started by Landon Paul '25 with a strong finish.  This game was shorted at the request of New Hampton and ended with a 1-0 Wildcat win.

A big athletic Holderness team was next on the field and Josh Weig '25 returned to the net.  Overcoming some initial trepidation about their size, the KUA boys settled in and began to control the flow of the game.  Landon had some nifty dribbling and finished with a nice assist to Shangshang Tong '25, who scored his third goal of the season.  This game also ended with a 1-0 victory.

Finally, we were matched against the Cardigan thirds.  Admittedly, we came out a bit flat after our three other games, but eventually picked up our energy and scored two goals in rapid succession.  Landon Paul led the scoring with a nice goal and was followed by defender Cale Goodnow who was advancing with the flow of the play.  Although we gave up a late goal to avoid the shutout for the day, the boys earned a strong 2-1 win.

Defensively, Thelonius Korhonen'26 stood out in his first game of the season with his ball control and calmness under pressure.  On the offensive end, Josh Weig also proved to be a spark of energy and ball skill when he wasn't playing keeper, so with Taylor's strong keeper play, Josh could provide some scoring opportunities in future games.  Also on the offensive end, Yiyi She '26 showed that he is willing to pressure the opposing keeper and works hard to obtain possession, so he will likely find the scoreboard this season.
